This is amazing. I am truly inspired by what you’re doing for this community. We need more people like you in this world.
About The Ripple Effect
Nov 2018 I had an opportunity to visit the rural community of Awaash Qolaatii in Ethiopia - The community we fundraised with last year. I had a chance to spend a few days with the families who now have access to a clean water well. We laughed a lot, we danced, we played, we hugged and smiled until our faces hurt. I experienced emotions I’ve never felt before.
A recent project assessment made from over the years shows;
- Water wells built, starting from the first one in 2007, are all working well and past partner communities are thriving independently.
- Water borne diseases are down to 0.
- School attendance has increased by 300%
- Women are directly and actively involved in the economic and political sector in their respective communities
- Rape is reduced by 80%
The positive impact just from having access to clean water is out of this world...a true ripple effect.
For years I have seen images of the water crisis but there was always a disconnection. When I saw it with my own eyes, it struck me hard. It was real and it was right in front of me. I instantly got hit with a wave of sadness, anger, frustration, discomfort and heart break. Also, hope.
How was I so lucky to be born in a country where I can drink from the tap and other’s have to walk 8 hours a day to still most likely get a water borne disease?
…how is this reality?
I want to step up and change the statistics. On May 5th I ran 42.2 km’s for the people who don't have access to clean water. The marathon training itself had been one of the most mentally and physically challenging things I have experienced.
I have beautiful memories from Ethiopia that fuelled my energy throughout the run.
My goal is to raise $10,000 for another rural community who is in desperate need of clean water.
If you can, I’d like to invite you to join me in paying it forward.
Any donation amount goes a long way. Only $35 can give a person clean water for LIFE.
I’ve partnered with some of my favourite local companies who have donated over $2000 in prizes for donations of $10 or more made by May 10th.

“ You might think that your contribution is just a drop of water in a vast ocean, but each drop has a ripple effect that together combines to create a movement.”
